The Chinese religion has had extensive and profound influence on the development of Chinese literature.In the autocratic ancient China,the Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism became three pillars of Chinese ideology and culture,which strengthened the relationship between Chinese religions and literature.The mutual influence is both positive and negative.The great influence of Chinese religions on Chinese culture is found extensively in such areas as the lifestyle and thought of the writers,literary forms and themes,literary techniques,thoughts and criticism,where the religion has become an important force for literary development.Hence,to approach historically the relationship between Chinese religions and literature is of great significance,especially to the study of the history of Chinese religions,literature and culture.
