Caste system in India is a system of social stratification. The previous untouchables, the category of an "out caste" representing the most oppressed group of people in Indian society, are always associated with illiteracy, poverty and polluting in nature. Ambedkar, who himself was from the previous untouchables, believed that Hindu religion should be abandoned in order to free his people from this injustice social hierarchy system, thus leading to the mass conversion into Buddhism in 1956. Several Buddhist organizations sprung from this movement but they seldoln agree with each other. TBMSG is among one of them. Being a spiritual organization emphasizing on personal spiritual achievement and social uplifting of the poor, it is being criticized of lacking initiatives in political and social aspects. Through participation in their activities I came to learn about this organization and its people. The objective of this paper is to show that instead of being too self-centered or overtly political as being accused of, TBMSG is trying to balance among religious, social, economic, educational and cultural development of the Buddhist community as a whole.
