觀相念佛: 盛唐至北宋一度流行的淨土教行儀 -- 敦煌寫本《佛說相好經》新探=o Reciting Buddhist Scripture by Viewing Buddha’s Image: A Popular Ritual Practice of The Pure-land Sect During The High-Tang Period to The Song Dynasty
By a careful study on a fragment of Dunhuang Manuscript of The Sūtra Spoken by Buddha on Lak an a-vyaňjana and combined the efforts on the study of the Chinese Classics in Buddhist Records and historic Records , this article is going to discussing a popular ritual practice of the Pure-land Sect that once took place in the process of developing pure-land sect during the High-Tang period to the Song Dynasty. The ritual celebration of reciting Buddhist Scripture by viewing the Buddha’s images had once popular in Dunhuang and other places in China, but for some reasons, it was no longer to be practiced and had been forgotten.
