There are a scattered news report of The Shi Gong Si Grottoes and an rare information were published yet since the Si Gong Si Grottoes have been discovered, but never a systematic archaeological investigation was done, so it has never caught the attention to the academic circle. The initial construction of this Buddhist Cave-temple were begun at the Northern Wei Dynasty and were continuing run to the Northern Zhou and the Sui Dynasty, and then there were no more new-established project in opening caves. These Northern Dynasties cave-temples and the iconography inside grottoes has valued an important visual material in the study of Buddhist belief and history, the historic facts of route of transportation during the period of the Northern Dynasties especially around the area of the Longs Mountains.
