This article attempts to trying out the theory and practice of A History Proved True by Existing Works of Art.Based on the achievement of the study of vulgarization of Buddhism of Dunhuang by former scholars,this article made a analysis in detail to the portrait of donors of the Dunhuang Mural dating from a period of the Tang dynasty and the Song dynasty and centralizing on those collective portrait of donors of Dunhuang,showing the fact that they have reflected and recorded Dunhuang secular society and reflected the true station of public belief at the past times in Dunhuang area,and furthermore,to consider and review those portrait of donors’ closer relationship with the local vulgarization of Buddhist society in all its aspects.
