The Central Column Grotto is the most typical representative of the so-called "Kizil's Style Grotto" which had been excavated by Kucha's people on the basis of the absorption of the external Buddhism art, and is one of the most important grotto among all the Buddhist grotto remains in China. It is very hard for us to divide its exact period for the lack of the excavating records. So the timing problem has been the focus in a long period. And many view points have been released by the Chinese and foreign experts, but they are quite different. The author brought up his own opinion about the timing of the Kizil's Grotto from three aspects: the changes of the pattern, the evolvement of the content and style of the painting and the Kizil's status in the arts of Buddhist Grottoes.
