Since there are rare textual materials and architectonic illustrations of architecture and courtyards about before the Tang Dynasty could be found,the peculiar annular building of the Sui Dynasty found in Dunhuang Murals which were vividly reflecting beauty of group of architectural arrangement had afforded great value for research.By a comparative study view,this article attempts to interpreting the architectonic illustrations of the Sui Dynasty in Mogao grottoes from the three levels:single building;a group of complex buildings and courtyard,and tries to had a better understanding of the Sui Dynasty’ s developed technology of wooden construction, mature thinking of architectonic complex and arrangement of courtyard layout.
