Having analyzed the iconographic features and social context of the gilt-bronze images of Havaira and Mahākāla collected in Wuwei Museum, this article, making a comparison with the style and composition of murals of Cave 465 Mogao Grottoes, got a conclusion that the pair of statues seems to be produced in mid-thirteenth century’s Tibet instead of it being made in the Ming Dynasty. The author thinks that the pair of statues have a very important meaning in the history of relationship between Han-Chinese and Tibetan, which appears to have a closer relation with Tibetan monk Sa-skya Pandita and ’phags-pa.On which the author found a conjecture that Sa-skya Pandita had used them as Yi-dam deities at the Hevajra rituals.
