Many Dunhuang documents from the Library Cave and inscriptions in Dunhuang caves tell about conservation of cultural relics in ancient Dunhuang,including repair of temples,consolidation of the cliff of the Mogao Caves,repair of caves,removing sand from caves,repair of sutras,and so forth.On the basis of these materials,other questions also can be discussed,such as conservators,entertainment,materials and places for conservation work,and ancient Dunhuang people’s ideas about conservation,which might to some extent provide references for today’s conservation of cultural relics.
