This paper is a thorough study of the "taboo"(avoiding mentioning the emperors by name) and the calendar at Dunhuang in the Tang dynasty according to the inscribed stone tablet in the Dali era. Before the Tibetan occupation, the Tang Dynasty taboo was strictly followed in Dunhuang area, but no longer after the Tibetan occupation. The local Dunhuang calendar was in use in the Dunhuang region during the Jinglong era rather than in the period after the Tibetan occupation.
