甘谷縣華蓋寺石窟唐僧取經壁畫初探=A Preliminary Study on the Mural of Monk Tang Going on a Pilgrimage for Buddhist Scriptures at the Huagaisi Grottoes in Gansu Province
The image of Monk Tang going on a pilgrimage for Buddhist scriptures in the Sakyamuni Cave at the Huagaisi Grottoes in Gangu County is one of the important images on this theme preserved in eastern Gansu province. This paper is in three parts. The first part presents a brief analysis of the figures in the mural according to its contents; the second part compares this image with other similar images; and the third analyzes the time of its execution by combing the figures of the murals,the rebuilding history of the cave,the arrangement of the figures,and classification of the murals on the same theme,and then summarizes its contents and where it was introduced from.
