The academia has deferent explanations on the artistic model of the Statue Bodhisattva holding sarira of the Buddha, which was unearthed from Famensi Temple's underground palace of Tang Dynasty. Some scholars argue that this Bodhisattva figurine originates from Lakshmi of Indian Buddhism, or Heaven's Maid of worshipping of Vajrayana Buddhism. Others consider it as the emperor himself of that time. Based on image analysis and textual research, the author indicates that the original artistic model of this Bodhisattva figurine is the eminent monk of temples in Chang'an, who might be a religion leader, praying respect for Buddha on a Buddhistic ritual ceremony on behalf of the emperor.
