Dharani Mantra scriptures are unearthed from the burials of the Tang and Song Dynasties,which were usually accompanying the dead with special bearing behaviors.This paper comprehensively studied the archaeologically unearthed cases of this kind of Dharani Mantra scriptures and pointed out that they were related to the popularity of the Tantric Buddhism in China during the Tang and Song Dynasties;meanwhile,this sect of Buddhism was integrated with the occultist arts such as incantations and exorcising crafts and formed a new type of folkloric beliefs during this period.
