This paper deals with the graphic solution method in unfolding drawings of arched niches using computer-aided drawings based on 3D laser scanning. This method refers to the combination of three methods-- manually unfolding drawings, a curved surface descriptive geometry approach, and a coordinated control method. The application of this technology is a new attempt in handling the problem of attaining accurate images from hard to access locations. This paper also discusses the feasibility of manually unfolding drawings and the differences between these methods
