Chinese scholars have been studying “Hsuan Chuang Spirit” since the 1950s. The period between the 1950s and the 90s is the starting stage of the study of “Hsuan Chuang Spirit,” when scholars failed to carry out systematic researches and pay enough attention to the study of “Hsuan Chuang Spirit.” The study began to develop and flourish in the 1990s, from which time on scholars have been making continuous and deep studies of the “Hsuan Chuang Spirit.” Scholars have enriched the connotations of “Hsuan Chuang Spirit” in their researches, including the spirit of learning, the spirit of inclusiveness, the national spirit, the spirit of the times, patriotism, and the international spirit, and highlighted the core of “Hsuan Chuang Spirit”--“the spirit of seeking the truth.” In addition, we can see from the recent forced dismantling of the Xingjiao Temple in the process of World Cultural Heritage Declaration and India Prime Minister Modi’s visit of Xi’an in May this year that “Hsuan Chuang Spirit” has important heritage value and the value of times.
