試論庫木吐喇第50窟主室正壁佛龕千佛圖像的程序=Arrangement of the Paintings of Thousand Buddhas in the Niche on the Main Wall of the Main Chamber of Cave No.50 in the Kumtura Grotttoes
In the niche on the main wall of the main chamber of Cave No.50 in the Kumtura grottoes, there remain 42 paintings on the side wall. Each painting depicts a donor and a Buddha with a certain kind of donation. As described by the Kuchean caption above each painting, the donor in each painting is very probably one of the thousand Buddhas presented by his previous incarnation. Among these Kuchean captions, only 38 Buddha names are still decipherable. In this paper, the arrangement of those paintings of thousand Buddhas are compared with the Khotanese Bhadrakalpikasutra and the data preserved in Sanskrit and Chinese texts based on Weller’s research.
