“Six paramitas collection sutra ” can also be called “the Collection of Tales in connection with Unlimited Six Perfections“. Kang Senghui (?–280A.D.) from Southeast of China under the ruling of the Wu Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms Period compiled the 91 Buddha Jataka stories into 8 volumes. Those stories were arranged in the sequence of the Six Perfect Virtues or Paramitas and constituted to the main content be studied and practiced by followers of Mahayana Buddhism. The content included stories about almsgiving, self-discipline, patience, diligence, deep concentration, and wisdom. There have been many people engaged in research of The Collection of Tales in connection with Six Perfect Virtues or Paramitas. However, this study will mainly focus on the 26 almsgiving stories among 3 volumes. This study mainly includes 3 parts: First, this study introduces the biography and works authored by Kang Senghui(Sanghapala) and elaborates the main ideas of Kang Senghui(Sanghapala) on combination of Mahayana and Hinayana, coordination between Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and Lao-Zhuang metaphysics. Meanwhile, the influence of Kang Senghui(Sanghapala)’s thinking on the Collection of Tales in connection with Six Perfect Virtues or Paramitas is also elaborated. Second, this study investigates the three kinds of almsgiving: Giving Material Help, Giving Dharma Teachings and Giving Protection from Fear, and elaborates the Spirits, attitudes and results of giving. Last but not least, this study compares classics such as stories about the prince giving his life to a tiger, the moonlight king and the Prince Suddhana from the DunHuang murals that are related to almsgiving. Then, the king's role, the animal’s tole and the reactionary’s role are analyzed to finally elaborate almsgiving stories that have been compiled into formal chapters, including 21 stories about Buddha’s lives for management of family affairs, 22 stories about Buddha’s lives for management of the Kingdom and 24 stories about Buddha’s lives for management of family affairs that are related to folk tales in China.
