Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness- Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) are the earliest, most popular and studied Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs). This review article investigates issues in the procedure of teacher training and obtaining certification in these two forms of MBI, including the teacher training pathways, qualification of both teachers and teacher trainers and the assessment criteria for MBI teachers. In conclusion, a summary of the findings is given and suggestions are made for establishing localized MBI teacher training systems adjusted to Chinese culture.
