The diverse categories and complex sources of Dunhuang documents that were mainly written by hand have posed various difficulties for today’s revisionary work. With the aid of some dialects and slang from the northwest China of the Tang Dynasty, this paper offers novel viewpoints and provides new evidence regarding previous revision, trying to find the actual meaning of the original texts and demonstrating why some words can replace each other.
