Focusing on four newly-found Dunhuang contract manuscripts, this paper first introduces the historyof their collection, then makes a detailed description of their physical appearance and contents, and finally discusses several questions regarding the type and nature of the contracts. It concludes with a short commentary on the preservation and research approaches effective in dealing with Dunhuang contract documents.
