From 2010 to 2011, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Turfan Studies, and the Institute of Kusen Studies jointly carried out an archaeological excavation at the site of the Tuyuq Grottoes and unearthed many important cultural relics. The items recovered from the excavation include Buddhist scriptures, wall murals, Buddhist monastery construction materials, and an assortment of manuscripts. This paper deciphers and studies the 43 Uighur inscriptions discovered among the relics found in Tuyuq.
