In the process of propagating the bodhisattva cultivation, Saddharma Puṇḍarīka Sūtra (the Lotus Sutra), the spirit of patience is the spine of the effort. Most books and research focuses on the bodhisattva cultivation, which is why this thesis will turn the point to the practical side. In the process of compiling the Saddharma Puṇḍarīka Sūtra, it merges with the his-torical background and the opposing views between monastic and laity. Thus, the sutra is faced with many questionings and difficulties in the process of propagation. The Saddhar-ma Puṇḍarīka Sūtra holds the purpose of uniting differences, such as combining the differ-ent concepts of Northern and Southern traditions, to realize the spirit of equality of Human-istic Buddhism. What seems like an argument for the easy way is actually a practice of dif-ficult path through the spirit of patience, thus achieving the important state of non-regression and the state of patience of non-arising dharma. After the parinirvana of Sakyamuni Buddha, the process of propagating the Saddhar-ma Puṇḍarīka Sūtra is filled with obstacles, this is why in many of the chapters the spirit of patience is especially noted. The spirit of patience in different chapters is an especially im-portant cultivation in the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism in the 21st Century. This research hopes to achieve a combination of the important characteristics of the Padmapundarika Sutra with the modern lifestyle and concepts so that it can be implement-ed in the modern propagation of Buddhism.
