摘要
敎體論은 佛說의 진리성에 대한 논의이다. 圓測은『해심밀경소』에서 교체의 문제에 대해 매우 체계적이고 정치한 논의를 전개하고 있다. 원측의교체론은 이 문제에 대한 당시 중국불교계의 관심과 논의의 지평을 보여주고 있다는 점에서도 주목된다. 이 글은 원측 교체론 형성의 사상적 지반을 확인하는 것을 중심 내용으로 한다. 이를 위해 이 글에서는 원측의 교체론 형성에 대한 玄奘과 窺基의 영향관계를 조사하였다. 원측은 교체론을 전개하는 과정에서 현장에 假託한다. 즉 교체론 논의의 사상적 지평에 대해 현장에 의거함을 스스로 밝히고 있는 것이다. 그러나 현장이 교체의 문제에 대해 직접 체계적인 논의를 제시한 사실은 현재로서는 확인되지 않는다. 현장의 가르침을 충실히 계승하고 있는 것으로알려지는 규기의 저술들에도 원측이 말하는 ‘현장설’은 직접적으로는 확인되지 않으며, 원측과 규기의 선후관계를 단정할 논거도 불확실하다. 결론적으로 원측이 전하는 현장설의 출처는 현재로서는 확인되지 않는다. 따라서 원측의 교체론은 현장을 중심으로 당시 공유되고 있던 이해를바탕으로 형성된 것으로, 특히 직접적으로는 원측이 현장의 다양한 역서를종합적으로 원용하여 정리한 것으로 추측된다. 현장에의 가탁 역시 이러한과정에서 이루어진 것으로 보인다.
The discourse on the nature of Buddha’s words(敎體論) is a discussion on the true nature of Buddha’s words. Woncheuk(圓測)systematically discusses the nature of Buddha’s words(敎體) in his work named Haesimmilgyeongso(『解深密經疏』). His discourse on it is worthy of notice in that it shows an interest and discussion level of Chinese Buddhism world on this topic at that times. This paper aims to confirm the philosophical basement supporting his discourse on it. For this purpose, this paper investigated how Xuánzhuāng(玄奘) and Kueichi(窺基) affected Woncheuk’s discourse on it. Woncheuk depends on Xuánzhuāng in the course of suggesting his discourse. Namely, he says by himself that his discourse takes Xuánzhuāng’s thought as its philosophical foundation. But it isn’t confirmed that Xuánzhuāng himself suggests systematically any discourses on the nature of Buddha’s words yet. Furthermore,Xuánzhuāng’s words quoted by Woncheuk isn’t directly shown in Kueichi’s works known as succeeding faithfully to the teachings of Xuánzhuāng, and it is also vague to make clear the order of Woncheuk and Kueichi. In conclusion, the source of Xuánzhuāng’s words passed down by Woncheuk isn’t confirmed yet. Therefore, it is assumed that Woncheuk’s discourse is made of common understandings that Xuánzhuāng shares with his contemporaries, and directly speaking, the ones that he synthetically arranges Xuánzhuāng’s translation. It can be also said that he depends on Xuánzhuāng in the course of invoking it.
