The Damingbei(The Great Ming Stele) is one of the ancient stele of the Binglingsi Grottoes that have been relatively well preserved. These steles contain abundant historical and geographical information and are important artifacts for research on the Binglingsi Grottoes and the regional history of ancient Hezhou. Research on the Damingbei clarifies the restoration history and development of the Binglingsi Grottoes since the Ming dynasty, with an exploration into the dependency relationship between the Binglingsi Grottoes and the major regional temples in the Ming dynasty. Finally, this research further elucidates the propagation and evolution of Tibetan Buddhism in the Binglingsi Grottoes since the Yuan and Ming dynasty, as well as the Ming dynasty’s ethnic and religious policies and ruling strategies in the Hehuang and Taomin regions.
