再談“行百里者半九十”——紀念莫高窟藏經洞發現120周年=Reassessing Advice from a Contemporary Dunhuang Studies Scholar——In Commemoration of the 120th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Dunhuang Library Cave
行百里者半九十= “To cover ninety percent of one’s road brings the traveler no farther than half way”; 建議=suggestion; 資料整理=compilation of materials; 信息交流=information exchange
To commemorate the 120 th anniversary of the discovery of the Dunhuang Library Cave, this paper begins by reassessing the instruction given by Mr. Ji Xianlin 20 years ago:“To cover ninety percent of one’s road brings the traveler no farther than half way.” On the basis of this wisdom, the researcher puts forward specific suggestions on how to further improve the cataloguing of documents, the quality of digital projects, Sino-foreign academic exchange and the collection and compilation of archives for Dunhuang Studies in a new era. Meanwhile, examples are provided that illustrate the importance of the academic research completed by the Dunhuang Academy and the Chinese Association of Dunhuang and Turfan Studies in the past. Particular attention is drawn to the practices of “old material, new issues” and “new materials, new perspectives” in Dunhuang Studies research.
