Professor Pan Chung-kwei's scholarship on Dunhuang literature has broad dimensions and profound insights. He has contributed to both editing and studying those manuscripts from Dunhuang with meticulous interpretations. He leaves us with his Newly Compiled Collection of Dunhuang Transformation Texts (Dunhuang bianwen ji xinshu) and Newly compiled Collection of Dunhuang Cloud Ballads (Dunhuang yunyao ji xinshu) which has tremendous impact in the field. In addition, He also worked on Dunhuang poetry and rhapsody. He not only edited numerous texts but also examined those literary works. On the one hand, he contributed to annotate individual characters within the manuscripts; on the other hand, he wrote about theoretical issues. This paper focuses on his Collection of Dunhuang Rhapsody with Annotations (Dunhuang fu jiaolu), analyzing Pan's contribution to the studies of Dunhuang rhapsodic literature and exploring his methodologies and features, which will lead precious inspirations to the study of Dunhuang literary texts.
