Buddhist Names came into being when Buddhism was influenced by Chinese culture. As is known to all, name symbolizes a person and the Chinese name system represents a family-clan. Buddhism, after it was introduced into China, attempted to distinguish itself from Confucianism with a Buddhist name. However, as time went by, Buddhist names were under the influence of the clan-oriented society, resulting in a confusion of using these names. All of this reflected to some extent the Sino-Indian cultural exchange and communication.
