摘要
연구는 종달의 사상과 수행법을 분석하여 그의 독자적인 선사상의 핵심을 살펴보고자 한다. 그의 선사상은 평등과 차별, 부인(否認)과 긍정, 뭉치고 풀기 등으로 설명할 수 있다. 그것들은 서로 대조적인 개념들이지만, 결국은 깨달음과 현상세계의 상대적 개념을 초월하는 ‘일체불이(一切不二)’를 의미한다. 종달의 일체불이 사상은 일상생활과 간화선 사이의 관계에도 적용되어서 생수불이(生修不二) 사상으로 확장된다. 공안은 천 칠백여개에만 해당되는 것이 아니라 일상생활에서 부딪히는 모든 문제들이 공안이므로 일상생활 그 자체가 수행과 다르지 않다는 것이다. 일체불이와 생수불이가 실현되기 위한 실천적인 방편은 ‘한 몸 되기’에 있다. ‘한 몸 되기’는 자기가 있는 그 자리에서 매순간 자기가 하고자 하는 일에 몰두하여 초월하는 것이다. 따라서 일상생활에서는 그 생활과 하나가 되고, 공안을 참구할 때는 그 공안 참구와 하나 되는 것이니, 이 두 가지는 한 몸 되기로 일관성을 가진다. 결론적으로 종달의 선사상의 핵심은 ‘일체불이(一切不二)’와 생수불이(生修不二)에 있고, 그 수행 방편의 핵심은 ‘한 몸 되기’라고 말할 수 있다.
This study attempts to examine the core of his own idea of seon(禪) by analyzing Jong-dal's thoughts and practices. His ideas of seon can be explained by equality and individualization, denial and affirmation, and unity and revelation. They are contrasting concepts, but in the end they are not different from each other, Il-che-buri(一切不二, Everything is not duality)', by transcending the relative concepts of enlightenment and the world of phenomena. The Jong-dal‘s idea of Il-che-buri(一切不二, Everything is not duality) is also applied to the relationship between daily life and the Ganhwaseon's practice, which extends to the idea of Saeng-su-buri(生修不二, Life and practice are not duality). Gongan(公案) is not only equivalent to 1,701, but all the problems encountered in daily life, so daily life itself is not different from practice. The practical way to realize them is to become one body. "To be one body" is to concentrate on what you want to do at every moment where you are. Therefore, in everyday life, they become one with the daily life, and in the practice of Gongan(公案), they become one with Gongan(公案). Consequentially they are consistent with the introspection of "becoming one body". In conclusion, the core of Jongdal's idea of seon lies in Il-che-buri(一切不二, Everything is not duality), and Saeng-su- buri(生修不二, Life and practice are not duality). And the core of its practice can be said to become one body.
