<초기불교에 있어 지,관의문제>라는 글이 발표된 이후 여러 측면에서 시비가 일어 논쟁점이 부각되었다. 주로 sati(념)라는 용어의 해석과 용례에 있어 이의가 많았다. 그리고 이러한 현재의 논자의 sati이해에 따른 지,관의 일방적인 차체 수행만을 강조하는 주장에 대해서도 또한 다야한 이견이 있었다. 그것은 몇몇 경전과 전통적인 지,관, 이해에 따라 관수행에서 지수행이 처음부터 가능하다느 근거를 틀어 전통적인 입장을 다시 확인 또느 대변하는 입장에 서서 비판하고 있다
After discusion of 'Provlem of Samatha and Vipassana in Early Buddhism', Jouranl of Korean Seon Studies, Dec, 2000(vol.1), there have been arisen controvesies on some points. Among them the first one is the new definition of the crucial word 'sati' which is rendered as 'passive atention in bare state of mind'. The next one os that in the beginning of practice, a meditatior would develop wipassana preceded by samatha, But not samatha preceded by vipassssana and samatha and vipassana not coupled togerher.
