This paper is based on the philology method to discuss the application of Maya in Indian religious philosophy.Through the research of the maya,we can find the Maya was not only emerged in Buddhism, but also involved in wide varieties of Indian philosophy sectarians. Maya is one of the most important concepts of Indian philosophy in history. The Vedanta philosophy altered in Sankara era when the Buddhism Vedanta philosophy started to dominate the traditional vedanta philosophy.Although the Buddhism had weakened in Sankara era and the Hindu achieved comprehensive revival, the Hindu could not rule out of the factor of Buddhism in its own works. The Hindu combined the elements of Buddhism into its own Vedanta character and created its own unique system. From the religion aspect, Sankara could inevitably not to avoid to criticize the Buddhism. But the Buddhism and the Vedanta have some sort of similarity from same theory. Both mainly used the point of the view of objective idealism to explain the universe and life in their theory. Sunyata and Brahmana, the two core concepts of Nagarjuna bore a close resemblance in nature as well as in description methods. In the meantime, both Sankara and Nagarjuna adopted “Maya” to explain all the phenomena of the world. People who study the Indology should explore and highlight how the Maya concept shared by the various factions of the ancient Indian philosophy from more than one angle.
