In recent years, the global warming effects have been worse and worse. We have to face the music, the ruthless truth- the nature's revenge. Dealing problems like that, Master Chao- Hui, Master Chuan-Dao, Master Hai-Tao and Tzuchi Organization have done something to protect the environment. By advocating releasing animals, recycling garbage and fulfilling environmental movements, the Buddhist groups do their duties as well as show the specialties of caring for nature. Though groups above have been broadly concerned about the environmental ethics, Venerable Master Sheng Yen still revealed the concept of “The Six Ethics” (inclusive of Family Ethic, Living Ethics, School Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Workplace Ethics and Ethics between Ethic Groups), which is critized non-aggressive. The essential spirit of the Dharma drum Mountain (DDM) is to “uplift the character of humanity and build a pure land on earth.”The major issue nowadays caused from “the human heart.”To correspond the needs of modern people’s theoretic concept and to adapt the change of the modern society, Venerable Master Sheng Yen advocates “the Six Ethics.” Compared with those environmental movements of other Buddhist groups, “the Six Ethics” put more emphases on the educational concept of combination between religion and environment. It might solve the problem from the root, from the origin. However, the connotation of “the Six Ethics” has its own specialties and differences from the traditional Five Ethics of ancient Confucianism. As a result, it is necessary to promote “the Six Ethics,” which is based on “the Spiritual Environment” and indicated by “Four Environments.” It’s quite different from the traditional Buddhism ethics about the idea and practice of the environmental theory. The thesis is divided into five chapters. It attempts to discuss the background, the main idea, the specialties and the plan for promoting the ten-year global cultivation of “the Six Ethics.”The writer assumes that- first, the global warming effect is getting worse and worse, practing the Environmental Ethics is easy-following and trend-setting. Moreover, it is acceptable for everyone as well. Second, “the Six Ethics” contains the kindness of traditional Confucianism and the wisdom of Buddhist Ethics. It matches the standard of humanity. Third, the practice of “the Environment Ethics” can help people improve the world-wide environment to reach the function of purification and solve the crises globally. Through the research, we can make a conclusion. First, the concern for environment and practice for education based on “the Six Ethics” as the highest conducting principle.
