This paper takes "Ānanda 's incident in which Matangi’s Daughter cast a spell on him as the topic of discussion, trying to understand the key but unexplained parts of the Shurangama Sutra and other texts: (1) the psychological mechanism of the Matangi’s Daughter's transformation, (2) The hereditary division as the characteristics of the caste system, and (3) The language disclosure of achieving Arhatship. According to the transcendent function proposed by C.G. Jung, I cited related philosophy and linguistic theories and did some critical conceptual clarification and definition for interpreting the major turning point of Matangi’s Daughter. She, as a pariah, encountered Ānanda. How could it be possible that after listening to the teachings of Buddha, she reached enlightenment at such short notice. There are three major aspects related to this: (1) the transcendent function of analytical psychology which was termed by Jung is defined as mediation between opposites, and the transformation of personality into a whole that claims to be the goal of any psychotherapy, (2) the transcendence in philosophy. The traditional criteria in the history of Western philosophy for a metaphysical distinction is dualism which is rooted in rationality regards the emotion as disturbances when apprehending truths about ourselves and the world. To repress the emotion may result in mind-body problem which psychoanalysis and analytical psychology need to address, and (3) the transcendence in linguistic turn. The linguistic structure is a bipartite system of differences which involves the transition from one condition to another including men and women, strength and weakness, rigidity and softness, even yin and yang which are arising from the dualism. It is necessary to initiate dialogues between the ego, the superego, and the other. To transform, Matangi’s Daughter first had to address the issues of self-identification, after traversing all the extra ambiguities of the identification, the equanimity practice to be found behind the essence of the liberation of the Matangi’s Daughter can be revealed.
