A relatively systematic, complete Buddhism thought system for resisting Japan and saving the nation has been formed in the period of the republic of China. Looked from the theoretical foundation of the Buddhist salvation, Buddhists looked for the rationality of participating in military training and fighting the enemy at the front for Buddhist monks and nuns from Buddhist doctrine. From the necessity of Buddhist salvation, they realized that Buddhist monks and nuns and as a member of the national, have to shoulder the responsibility of saving the nation, and national salvation is the need to requite favours, and only saving can save Buddhism and Buddhists, salvation is the important way of survival and practice compassion of Buddhism. From the possibility of saving the nation and Buddhism, they realized that only Buddhism can help China to eliminate war, peace, and then make the revival of the Chinese nation in the world .They realized that ways to save the country included concentration to pray, to promote Buddhism, the establishment of charitable public welfare undertakings, Buddhists should use different ways of saving the nation according to different age. These elements are an important part of the modem charity thought, also largely awakened Buddhists so that they actively participate in the patriotic tide.
