回顧與前瞻馬來西亞佛教:第一屆馬來西亞佛教國際研討會論文集=Retrospective and Perspective of Malaysian Buddhism: Proceeding of the 1st International Conference on Malaysian Buddhism
This article implicates the condition of Mahua Buddhist prose writing with the literary terminology of Zhou Zuoren, namely “zaidao” (conveying tao) and “yanzhi” (expressing one’s will). It refers the former to the prose with obvious religious purpose to elaborate Buddhism, and the latter to the works which reflect the impact of Buddhist culture and thought but do not aim to promote the religious teachings. Taking the creative prose works by Kek Lian Wah as a case study, this article discusses the performances and achievements of Mahua Buddshist prose of both zaidao and yanzhi aspects.
