The article presents an annotated translation of a few pages from Zawa Damdin’s Golden Book. These pages contain a survey of Mongolia’s monasteries which provides an account of scholastic life amongst Mongols in Buriatia, Inner Mongolia and Mongolia just prior to the purges.
