Dong Zen Institute was founded in 1996, it aims at training Sangha, the original intention is to attract students from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand , India and Brunei , but most of them are from Malaysia . From the beginning stage, Dong Zen Institute Malaysia conducted two-year program. In year 2002, it changed to one year programme, six months studying in Malaysia, another six months participating in study tours. This changes reflected the problem of students’ sources, quality and curriculum. This study explore to the objectives of institute, curriculum setting and quality of students to analyze the role and the function of promoting the Buddhist teaching.
