再談敦煌寫卷P.2001號:學術史與《大唐西域求法高僧傳》的書名=More Remark on Dunhuang MSS P.2001: Academic History and the Book Title of Yijing's The Biographies of Prominent Monks Searching for the Dharma in the West During the Great Tang
The Dunhuang MSS P.2001 now kept in The National Library of France is an interesting document, not only because it contained the earliest version in MSS of Yijing’s Records of the Inner Law Sent Back Home from the South Sea, but also as it was numbered the first by French Scholar P.Pelliot when he cataloged it as part of his collection. According to the author of this paper, P.Pelliot did not number the document the first one casually, as it drew his attention once he saw it. The reason is the text on it is related to P.Pelliot’s own academic career and the historical environment of French oriental studies of that time. Meanwhile the author discusses the change of the title of the book The Biographies of Buddhist Masters Searching for the Dharma in the West during the Great Tang, Yijing’s other well-known work, and concludes once again that the book had more than one title during its earliest period of circulation.
