摘要There is a significant connection between ecumenism and world peace. Anyone who feels a sense of obligation toward the world community, who takes seriously the fragility of all human arrangements, who has glimpsed the possibilities of technical and human error, must know what is at stake here. He must know that the threat to peace and the need to regulate it have long since burst through the dimensions of the specific, reginoal conflict, and have become global political problems on which the survival of us all depends. The most fanatical, the cruelest political struggles are those that have been colored, inspired, and legitimized by religion. To say this is not to reduce all political conflicts to religious ones, but to take seriously the fact that religions share in the responsibility for bringing peace to our torn and warring world.
