Der-heui Yee dissatisfaction with mainstream scientifical experiment psychology afforded the Hermeneutic Phenomenological Psychology, absorbed the existential philosophy and hermeneutic philosophers of Heidegger, Gadamer, and Ricoeur, including their ideas of phenomenology of human existence and understanding theory of human. Der-heui Yee's long-term teaching and writing have opened the theory of humanistic healing, which has influenced many students and thus formed an alternative system of psychotherapy in Taiwan. The system presupposed Heidegger-Gadamer’s linguistic ontology. From a different view, Buddhism has a critical attitude (ceasing language) towards this linguistic ontology, that is, Buddhism first emphasizes the limitation and concealment of language, but Buddhism does not deny its function as a means of salvation, claims any language must have reflection and restraint ground use (pragmatically using language). This article attempts to respond to its presupposed position of linguistic ontology from the perspective of Buddhist philosophy. Through the dialogue between Buddhism and hermeneutic phenomenological psychology, we hope expanding both horizons, and form a common understanding, connecting Buddhism with humanistic healing and deepen each.
