| 摘要 | The moot purpose of this study is to show Buddhist monks society with the changes of
circumstances and needs made Buddhist monks change their original role of being mainly spiritual
guides of the laity and turned out to become more like spiritual -cum-secular guides. This change
of roles brought them to turn more into shape and mold of Brahminic priests, officiating at rites,
rituals and ceremonies. The change of role is specially discussed with regard to Theravada
Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka.
這項研究的實際目的是展示佛教僧侶社會，隨著環境和需求的變化，使得佛教僧侶從他們
最初主要是俗人的精神導師的角色，轉變為更像是精神兼世俗的導師。這種角色的轉變使
他們更多地變成了婆羅門祭司的形象和模範，主持儀式、儀軌和典禮。斯里蘭卡的上座部
佛教僧侶特別討論了角色的轉變。 |
