摘要
The article discusses the notion of Enlightenment in Zen Buddhism. The author points out that Enlightenment in a Buddhist context refering to the awakening of an individual to the true nature of mind which remains ineffable. Zen tradition of Far Eastern Buddhism has had the greatest influence on contemporary uses of the term that is most insistent about the necessity of a transmission outside the words and letters which means it is important as an experience rather as an idea while stating that Buddhism presents itself as a non-theistic religion. The author stresses that Enlightenment is knowing not-knowing.
