From my study, it is found that life and work of Mahakassapa-Thera is unique in the following respects :-
Contentment (Suntutthi) : Mahakassapa-Thera has been the best modle of moderate teacher who made his student faithful and confident in this practice.
The man of great learning (Bahussuta); Although he was ordained in old age, he did not refrain from his duty of practice in the threefold training with Arahat as his goal. He had as absolute discriminative wisdom, directly and in directly taught many monks, he therefore was respected most of them.
Right Action (Sammakammanta) ; Mahakassapa has been a model of persons (monks) of right-action, was respected by monks. His practice became the way of his teaching. It is proved that practicing is much more fruitful than teaching.
Mahasanghapamokkha Mahakassapa was elected the chairman of the first council verbal of Dhamma-Vinaya in the year of Mahaparinibbana. This has been preserved as core principle of Theravada Buddhism till today. He is, therefore, considered the great protector of Buddhism.
