摘要
It is an urgent task to develop the cultural contents of Buddhism in Korea. The developed contents can be used for various purposes. For example, it can be used for the management and maintenance of the cultural artifacts of Buddhism. In this paper, I will suggest some preconditions which are important for the success of the task. First, for the education of the cultural contents of Buddhism, a new department should be established at Dongguk University. The department should be able to teach how to develop the cultural contents, not the cultural artifacts. Second, until now the interest has been concentrated on the maintenance of the cultural artifacts of Buddhism. However, more attention should be focussed on the use of the cultural artifacts and the support from the Chogye Order of Korean Buddhism is very important. Third, it costs a lot of money for the success of the project and currently this is a big problem. Fourth, The inter-disciplinary cooperation between related departments at Dongguk University is necessary. The support from Buddhist temples is also very important. The project cannot be performed without their help. Fifth, the developed contents should be widely used. For instance, they can be practically used for commercial products, for the propagation of Buddhism, and for the education of cultural contents. It should be able to make a profit for reinvestment. In conclusion, for the success of the development of the cultural contents of Buddhism, it is a precursor to obtain the positive support from Dongguk University and the Chogye Order of Korean Buddhism which has the cultural artifacts.
