As a special part of Tang Poetry, monks' poems result from the prosperity of Buddhism and the poetry in the Tang dynasty and the interaction of the two. Monk-poets, mainly from the south of Yangzi River, have a dual personality as poets and monks as well. With unique style, their poems play an important role in the prosperity of Tang poetry.
