As two religious systems of long standing in Chinese history, the religious cultures of Buddhism and Taoism contain rich ecological wisdom. The paper analyzes the difference and similarities of simple nature outlook and environmental protection practices within their religious doctrines, excavates its ecological awareness, and explicates scientific and reasonable conclusions based on modern ecological principles, for the purpose of providing lively educational elements for national quality education and education for sustainable development, as well as supplying theoretical foundation for the establishment of religious and environmental policies, especially in playing a role of connection between environmental protection work and religious activities in nature reserves located in religious area.
