從《弘明集》《廣弘明集》看儒釋道三教關係

摘要梁朝僧祐《弘明集》與唐朝道宣《廣弘明集》是我國佛教史上兩部極為重要的典籍,其中所收集的論文、敕令、詔書等文獻是研究漢魏六朝及隋唐佛教史、思想史、文化史等的重要資料,許多論著都不斷加以稱引,然而對二書進行專門研究的專著卻少有可見,更沒有綜合二書,系統分析其中三教關系的論著。 本文依據《弘明集》與《廣弘明集》中的文獻資料,共用五章對漢魏至隋唐的三教關系進行梳理分析,以觀佛教進入中國后與傳統儒、道二家之間的沖突、磨合,并最終形成儒、釋、道三教合一的中國文化的過程。第一章簡略介紹了《弘明集》與《廣弘明集》二書作者及編書背景;第二、三、四章分別介紹了《弘明集》與《廣弘明集》二書中三教論爭的重要話題,即:夷夏之辨、神滅與神不滅、儀俗之辯(包括孝親、袒服、沙門應否敬王的論爭),從中可以看出三教之間的尖銳矛盾與激烈沖突;第五章從融合的角度對三教關系進行綜合分析,點明佛教自傳入之初至發展成熟,雖與傳統的儒、道二教發生一系列的沖突與論戰,然而三教之間的融合卻一直存在,以致最終形成儒、釋、道三教合一的中國文化。

The Hung-ming chi(Collection to Promote Buddhism and Expound Its Teaching) by Seng You of the Liang Dinasty and Guang-hung-ming chi by Dao Xuan of the Tang Dinasty are two extremely significant ancient books in Chinese Buddhist history. As the important literature, the two books including some papers, imperial orders and edicts which has the great significance for studying the history of Buddhism, the history of ideology and culture in the period of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, and the Sui and Tang dynasties. Although the two books were cited from time to time in the past, till now one can see very few monographs studying over them, not even to synthesize the two books and focus on expounding the relationship between Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism. Based on the materials collected in the Hung-ming chi and the Guang-hung-ming chi, this paper consisting of five chapters means to discuss the subject: the relationship between Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism in the period from the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties to the Sui and Tang dynasties, and to examine the confliction and mutual adaptation between Buddhism and the innate Chinese tradition until the harmonious merging took place about Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism. The first chapter introduces the authors and background of the two books; The second, third and forth chapters traces back the debates between Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism contained in the above two books, which includes (1) the Yi-xa-zhi-bian (argument for superiority of Chinese or barbarian culture), (2) whether or not the soul exists after the body perils and (3) whether of not Buddhist practices should obey the Chinese rites and customs. The last argument is concerned about issues of the filial piety, dressing customs in China and necessity to show respect in front of the emperor. The fifth chapter comprehensively takes look at the mutual merging process of the San-Jiao (three teachings) with description of the consistent collision between the three faiths at the beginning stage of Chinese Buddhism, and of final formation of the harmonious cultural tradition with Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism finding their proper place.
