This article first enumerates some key functions of uddanas or summary verses, and then examines the uddanas of Bie-Yi-Za-A-Han-Jing("Other Translation of Samyuktagama, T 100 in the Taiso Tripitaka). Comparison of the key words(or phrases) in these uddanas with corresponding sutras reveals overall agreement but also a considerable number of inconsistencies. Some significant characteristics of the uddanas of this text are thereby highlighted. And, the possible relationship between keyword and the title of that corresponding sutra is discussed.
