摘要 | 佛教文獻中所指之「六師外道」,在印度非佛教文獻中 都稱之為「六師」. 他們本身沒正式文獻留傳,有之只是 與其對立,批判其學說,斷章取義的片段而已. 就是佛教經 典所載六師思想非但取捨不同,且互有矛盾,互相取代等錯 綜問題. 後人隨取一經之六師思想,加以斥責宣說,即以訛 傳訛,相去益遠. 是以有必要加以比較,分析,期能指出六 師之本來思想.
六師可說是薄伽梵歌,數論非吠陀文化之「婊親」; 也 是反吠陀者加爾瓦卡,耆那教,佛教之「遠親」或先軀者. 尤其對佛教,無論在正,反兩方面,都是具影響的.
The "Six Teachers" of ancient India whom Buddhist texts refer to as "`tirthikas` "did not themselves hand down any scriptures. What-we know of their teachings comes from distorting fragments in the works of their opponents in which their theories are subjected to criticism. As to the relevant Buddhist text materials, they differ in content and are aften contradictory. Later scholars would confine themselves to the statements of a single sutra and criticize the theories of the "Six Teachers". Yet this amounted only to corrupting even further already twisted information. It is therefore necessary to compare and analyze the pertinent materials in order to reconstruct the original thought of the "Six Teachers". We might say that the "Six Teachers" are closely related to the non-Vedic Indian culture of the `Bhagavadgita` and `Samkhya` , and are distant relations or forerunners of the anti-Vedic Carvakas, Jainas, and Buddhists. Their influence on Buddhism in the positive as well as the negative sense is highly evident. |
