摘要 | 本文主旨在探討壇經思想的源流,先從壇經版本的考訂 開始,確定一較可信賴的原典--即敦煌本壇經,再就其內容 ,分成三大綱領:一者「自性」,二者「無相修行」,三者 「一門宗旨」,依此三者,先分述大意,再循歷史的線索-- 包括直線的,即師門傳承方面;與跳躍的,即來自其他經典 的可能傳承--分別做一番探索,其結論為:壇經中「自性 本來清淨,在自性中求解脫」的觀點,是楞伽血脈一向的主 張,也是屬於如來藏系統的思想. 另外,其「無相修行」的 觀念,則源於「楞伽經」的「行空」或「無行空」,與達摩 祖師的「稱法行」,復經「起信論」賦予理論基礎,而達於 成熟,六祖會緣於此,兼採「起信論」,「維摩結經」,「 金剛經」的類同觀念,建立其獨特的修行方式,又輔以其中 的「無念」,「無相」,「無住」的思想,定為一門宗旨, 從探索的結論看來,我們可了解:慧能把玄奧的「理」落實 於日常的生活中,很顯然的,這是一種大乘精神的闡揚,他 要人著實地面對生活或生命的情境,以之做為真正的生命超 越的基礎與終點.
This article deals with the origins of the thoughts of the Platform `Sutra`. It starts with a discussion on the various editions of the `Sutra`, and then the most reliable one,the one found in the Tun-huang Relics, is chosen for analysis. The content of the `sutra` is divided into three main subjects:Self Nature,signless practice,and the top principle of the Ch'an School as envisioned in the Platform `Sutra`. Each of the three central thoughts is given a simple definition and then traced to its origins along two lines--direct inheritance from the previous Patriarchs' teachings and possibel inspiration obtained from other scriptures available in Huei-nen's time.
The conculsion of the investigation is as follows:
The idea that our Self Nature is originally pure and that we should pursue liberation within it is a traditional claim of the Lankavatara School and belongs to the `Tathagata` Matrix system of thought.
The idea "to practice without signs or appearance" is derived from "the voidness of action" or "the voidness of nonaction" mentioned in the Lankavatara `Sutra`,and from Bodhidharma's teaching "to act in conformity with the Dharma." This concept is also strongly supported by the theory given in the Awakening of Faith. Furthermore,the Six Patriarch may have referred to similar thoughts suggested in the Vimalakirti-nirdesa `Sutra` and the Diamond `sutra` in building up his unique practicing method.
As to the major principle of Ch'an,the Patriarch picked up the ideas of "thoughtlessness, " "signlessness, " and "non-abiding" form the three works mentioned above.
In conclusion we may say that Huei-nen tried to embody the profound Truth in daily life. Obviously he wanted to develop the spirit of `Mahayana` Buddhism. He asked people to face squarely all the vicissitudes of life as a foundatio of transcendental achievement. |
