A Buddhist View of Animal Slaughter and Meat Eating. "No discussion of animal welfare would be meaningful that did not deal with the morality of flesh eating. Since I have chosen to put this subject in the context of Buddhism, it seems desirable, first of all, to discuss the significance of the first precept in Buddhism of not taking life.
